Wednesday March 27th
|
For the first time that I can remember, the monthly meeting of the
Professional Photographers of Pierce County will NOT be held on
the usual fourth Tuesday. This is because many of the members
will be attending the state convention and don't want to miss the
last night. Must be one heck of a party.
Instead the meeting will be held the next evening, Wednesday, the
27th, same time and location.
Program: Give your business a kick start this spring Three successful photographers will show what they do and talk a bit about what is important for you to consider then each will give a little tidbit of knowledge to help you expand your business NOW!!! Before the program look at samples of their work (albums, prints, postcards) then during the program learn how photographers consistently book assignments, how do they sell their products (projection, albums, slide shows, display print sizes, sales room ambiance), what their philosophy on setting their rates is, how they steer away from the cold prickly clients and satisfy the warm fuzzies, what do they do to add more value to their products so the customer just has to have their products. Russ Rogers of Rogers Photography (weddings and portraits), David Lobban of Lobban Photography (weddings, portraits and events) and Fred Rabel of Fred Rabel Photography (family and senior portraits) will be speaking and displaying their work. |

Spring is just around the corner. Now is the time to take a look at your business plan for the coming year and make sure it reflects where you're going. In developing your current plan have you laid out the critical mailing dates for each direct mail campaign? Have you worked backwards from that to develop when you need to have your postcards printed and still further back to layout your words and images? Did you remember to tack on an additional mailing to seniors to suggest they may need to reorder additional graduation portrait wallets in September? How about looking into additional clients from your current list? Family portraits are built on desire. That desire comes from repeatedly injecting the wish to own a family portrait in your customers mind. Are you including a mailing to past clients to keep your clients aware of your studio happenings (a newsletter). Do you know how you'll make more money this year or are you just hoping the phone will ring and you'll get the job? Do you know what to say when the phone rings so you can gain the assuredness the client will be a warm fuzzy and will pay the price you're asking? Do you know the 10 unique things about your studio that you can tell the called to differentiate your business from all the others out there? Make your plans now to increase sales this year.
I hope you see the value that Pierce County Professional Photographers offers to increasing your bottom line and making your photography more fun. Come to the meeting and by all means bring a friend. Remember each guest gets to come for two meetings free to look us over. When you're at the meeting introduce yourself to someone you don't know. It's much more enjoyable to be in a room of friends.
See you WEDNESDAY March 17th

What are you WOW factors???
The round table will be led by Fred Rabel of Gig Harbor and we will discuss your WOW factors and what most customer want from a professional photographer. How are you different? Why should the come to you? What will you do for them? How will you increase your order and profit? Bring your list of WOW factors to the round table at the next meeting.
Our next convention/meeting will be held in Lecture Hall #1, Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington on the 6th of April from 10 AM to 5 PM. Our guest speaker, Tim Cooper, will present "The Landscape in Black and White" in the morning, and "The Quality of Light" in the afternoon. Tim will be sponsored by the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. Photoland of Evergreen State College will cosponsor this event. Preregistration will be $10 with registration at the door, $15. There will also be an informal Friday evening meeting to discuss techniques and opportunities (hopefully Tim will be present). Preregistration will begin a the next week or two with mailings to registered members.
There will be print and slide competitions. Each participant is encouraged to bring two nature prints (any size, framed or unframed) and three nature transparencies.
Nature Photographers of the Pacific Northwest meet twice a year, rotating meeting sites. The following meeting will be November 2, 2002 (Saturday) at Oregon State University. The invited speaker will be George Lepp under the sponsorship of CANON.
editor's note: I received this press release from the board with a request to print it. However, because the extremely loud hyperbole and breathless boasting without actually saying a single fact about what the heck they will be talking about, I am suspicious that this is merely another sales pitch for services that they expect the attendees to pay for. This is not to say that their product or service is valueless, but the whole thing smells like a late night infomercial.
